Aesthetic Mesotherapy

What is Aesthetic Mesotherapy?
Aesthetic Mesotherapy was started in France in the 1950's. It has rapidly become very popular due to it' safety and effectiveness. Mesotherapy has recently made its way to the United States and is currently provided by some 15,000 doctors across the globe. It has recently been in the headlines with movie stars and popular journals. The therapy is based on the field of Homeopathy, both safe and time tested.

How Does Aesthetic Mesotherapy Work?
Aesthetic Mesotherapy (or Body sculpting) works by mobilizing the fat layer under the skin. This fat layer is what gives rise to unsightly cellulite and flab or pooches in the tummy. By using tiny injections into this layer we are able to move the fat and toxins and improve the local sluggish metabolism. We use very diluted amounts of natural substances mixed with small amounts of procaine (a numbing agent like at the dentist.) This helps to manipulate the fat layer and induce localized fat loss thereby providing the sculpted appearance.

The Different Types of Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy can be used for Body sculpting or shaping body parts affected by excess and stagnant fat deposits. It is very effective in alleviating cellulite or orange peel skin. It does this well and the effects are quick and safe. Mesotherapy can also be used on the arms, legs, and torso for simple fat removal such as the tummy pooch. It has been used on the face for bags under the eyes. Revitalizing the skin of the face with Mesotherapy can help to reduce wrinkles and creases. This Mesotherapy facelift is good to generally tighten up sagging skin.

Aesthetic Mesotherapy Versus Plastic Surgery or Liposuction
Plastic surgery and liposuction are very invasive and require an operating room and major anesthesia. It is major surgery and has all the setbacks of the same. These include pain, prolonged postoperative recovery time, major bruising, and a greater potential for adverse side effects. Aesthetic Mesotherapy is minimally invasive using only very small injections and has all the benefits with only minor side effects, if any.

Pain Control with (Non-Aesthetic) Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is useful in control of pain that is of musculoskeletal origin or pain that is visceral (heart, lungs, stomach, uterus, ovaries, etc.) in origin. It helps by manipulating the matrix which allows pain relief by healing the nerves connected to the pain. This matrix lies directly below the skin and is the handle by which the internal organ pain and the musculoskeletal pain are eliminated. It has been used extensively to treat pain problems with success. Better yet it is done without surgery so recovery is much quicker. This procedure is done in the doctor=s office without any general anesthetic. It is simple, safe, and effective.

Side Effects and Safety
Because Mesotherapy is so safe, there are almost no side effects of which to speak. Common side effects may be soreness or bruising at the injection site. These usually resolve within 48 to 72 hours. Rarely, bruising may last longer. There are no complications or adverse side effects. The remedies that are injected are mostly homeopathic and derived from plants, minerals, and vegetables. There is a small amount of an anesthetic agent that is metabolized locally in the fat so that none, if any, ever goes into the general circulation.

How Long Does Mesotherapy Last?
Mesotherapy regimens usually require several sessions to achieve the desired degree of Body sculpting. The number of sessions can vary according to the individual and the amount os sculpting to be done. More sculpting or more body parts will require more sessions. The Body sculpting effects may be seen as soon as the first week after treatment. Usually eight to 12 sessions are necessary, more or less depending on the situation. How long the Body sculpting last is also variable. Some individuals may achieve a long-lasting effect while others may require periodic tune-up at three month intervals. This depends on an individual's metabolism, lifestyle, weight, eating habits, exercise, and environment.

Aesthetic Mesotherapy Is Not a Treatment for Obesity
Aesthetic Mesotherapy is a technique to obtain Body sculpting but not major weight loss. For major weight loss, Mesotherapy would not be enough. If you need major weight loss, we can design a program that will help you achieve your goals. This may still include Mesotherapy but will include other therapies as well. We have been supervising weight loss and designing individually tailored weight loss programs long enough to be very successful. Weight loss programs need to include elements of nutrition, exercise, and life style modification.
